Update for June 2023 – Filmic Pro V7 is now subscription software. The subscription price depends on whether you previously owned Filmic Pro up to version 6, now called Filmic Legacy. There is a weekly subscription and a yearly subscription. This pricing can be found on the Apple App Store. You can still use Filmic Legacy if you don’t want to do the subscription model, however, new features will only be available on the newest version (V7). Also, Filmic Legacy is only available to those who purchased the original Filmic Pro app.

If you’ve ever thought that an iPhone has a “nice” video camera, but you could never make a high quality film with it, then you haven’t seen Tangerine or The Painter of Jalouzi. Both of these films were made using an iPhone, albeit with some high quality equipment and accessories. However, the iPhone was the device that captured the images (here are some more films that utilized the iPhone for filmmaking). When creating high quality video on the iPhone, a filmmaker may be perfectly happy with the basic Camera app that comes pre-installed on the iPhone. However there is a popular app called Filmic Pro that filmmakers use for more control over their camera. This app has all of features needed to control all of the aspects of capturing high-quality video footage. It can be quite intimidating to use, so Filmic has a training section that goes over the features of Filmic Pro.

The video below explains the features and settings of the Filmic Legacy app:
