How To Write a Quick WordPress Classic Post

Video

Ingredients

1 – Computer (Mac or Windows)

1 – Web Browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Brave, etc. )

1 – A self-hosted WordPress installation (more about that from our friends at Reclaim Hosting) – see note at the end of the directions.

Directions

  1. Log in to your WordPress site
  2. Create a New Post (Menu > New > Post)
  3. Create a title by entering text where it says Add title
  4. Next click where it says Type / to choose a block
  5. Type a slash then CL (/cl) and then press Enter
  6. The Classic Editor window will appear. You can maximize the size of the window by clicking the Enter fullscreen button
  7. Now type your text in the editor as you would normally, then clicking the Save button when you’re done.
  8. The text will appear in the post editor as a block of text. You then have the option to go back to Edit, or Convert to blocks.
  9. You can leave it as is and simply publish the post (click the Publish button).

Note: You may get different behavior with the classic editor depending on what theme you are using. The editor window may look different or add a classic editor block inline. Obviously WordPress would prefer you use true blocks and this will likely be a fluid situation going forward.
